John P. Manta, M.D.

John P. Manta, M.D., is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine and arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery. A native of The Philadelphia area, Dr. Manta became interested in orthopaedic surgery after graduation LaSalle University where he was very active in athletics. He completed medical school, a general surgery internship, and an orthopaedic residency at Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr. Manta continued his training with a fellowship in sports medicine at Georgetown University, where he served as the assistant team physician for the varsity athletes. At Georgetown, he worked with some of the leaders in the sports medicine field, publishing several papers and original articles on topics such as anterior cruciate ligament injuries and shoulder abnormalities.

Since moving to Chester County, he has been active in many community services. He currently works very closely with the athletic trainers at Coatesville, Downingtown and Bishop Shanahan High Schools. Dr. Manta has presented original research on shoulder and anterior cruciate ligament injuries. He has also lectured and published material on injury prevention for many local sport organizations. Dr. Manta has been elected to membership in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Manta has expertise in all sports medicine related injuries. He has special interest in minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee. He has extensive expertise in arthroscopic rotator cuff and instability repairs of the shoulder and ligament and meniscus surgery in the knee. Currently Dr. Manta resides in Chester County with his wife, and their three children. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and exercising.
